About Mel:-)

 

Melissa Presslaber, Nickname Mel:-) is from beautiful Osttirol/Austria and began skiing at the age of 2 ½ years. It all began at a small ski resort called Obergurgl in the “Ötztaler Alps” where her parents, especially her dad, a certified ski-instructor taught her how to ski.

She started as an alpine race competitor, later worked as a certified ski-instructor, trained with several national youth teams until she became what she is now – a passionate Freeskier. In the year 2007 she entered her first Big Mountain Competition in St. Anton, Austria and won! After some successful participations at diverse Freeride Comps in winter 2008, she gained confidence and knew that she is able to compete with some of Europe’s best Female Freeskiers. A knee injury stopped her from going big.

After having had five knee surgeries on just one knee, she learned to fight and stand up after falling down. Winter 2009/10 was a come back season for her and she was lucky to film and be out with some of the best female Freeriders in Europe. Together with Lorraine Huber, Giulia Monego, Laura Bohleber, Sandra Lahnsteiner and Pia Widmesser  she filmed “AS WE ARE” – a Girls Ski Movie. Here is the trailer…

Freeskiing, Filming, Photo shootings, improving her riding skills, taking part on Freeride Comps, staying healthy and especially being out there with friends will be the main focus the coming winters…

Today you will find Mel:-) calling her home in Innsbruck, Austria and her love and passion to ski has given her the chance to meet great people and ski beautiful, challenging mountains!

In ordinary life, Mel:-) is a student, studying English and Sports to become a cool teacher one day…;-)

She sees herself as being very lucky to travel to so many amazing and remote places and be inspired by so many people that share the same passion as her. Her life is all about skiing!
